DESCRIPTION:Raffles\, Lunch & Presentation  \nAmy Phillips presents a remarkable collection of Judith Leiber Purses. \n\nDue to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control this event has been cancelled.\n  \nMarch 21st – Saturday – 10am-Noon – Amy Phillips unveils an exclusive collection of Judith Leiber purses\nThis is a SSHS Museum Fundraiser \n\nLimited Seating – Reservations Required\nMs. Phillips will talk about Judith Leiber’s life and her ascent to the top of the fashion industry. Born in Hungary\, Judith began her career as a trainee at a handbag company.  She was the first woman graduated to master craftswoman\, becoming the first woman to join the Hungarian Handbag Guild in Budapest. Being of Jewish heritage and living in Budapest\, Judith endured the horror of Nazi persecution throughout World War II. Leiber\, who immigrated to the United States in 1947\, founded her own business in 1963.  She is known for her crystal minaudieres – evening purses made of a metal shell often encrusted with Swarovski crystals\, plated with silver or gold and in various forms\, such as baby pigs\, slices of watermelon\, cupcakes\, peacocks\, penguins and snakes. Sold at exclusive boutiques around the world\, her purses may cost up to several thousand dollars and have become a status symbol for many women including many American First Ladies. \nRaffle Fundraiser!\nThe following will be raffled off at the event: \n\nAn Autographed copy of the book “The Artful Handbag”\nAn original Judith Leiber purse!\n\nThe first raffle will be the autographed book and the purse will be drawn second. All remaining tickets after the book drawing will be used in the purse drawing. You DO NOT need to be present to win!
