Zoom Classes

Two Zoom Classes to Get You “Zooming” Online

The pandemic has really made it difficult to interact normally with our members and guests of the Sunnyslope Historical Society.  We have teamed up with local IT specialist, Alisa Phoenix, of Phoenix Tech Gurus, to offer two classes to help you come up to speed with the online Zoom Meeting platform.  The Museum has transitioned our board meetings to Zoom, and will soon be offering exciting new ways to interact with us via Zoom.  Additionally, Zoom skills may help you to go to medical appointments online and to communicate “face to face” (without masks!) online with friends and family.

These hour-long classes will be held at noon on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2020.  To ensure that everyone has a positive learning experience, the classes are limited to 10 participants each.  Cost is $20 per person per class.

Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm — Zoom for Novices Class Click Here to Sign Up for Class

This class is designed for the Zoom novice that does not know how to join a Zoom Meeting.  The class will begin with a conference call — with a tried and true technology that all are familiar with.  In order to participate in this class, there are three pre-requisites:

(1)   A computing device with a camera and microphone, such as a computer, laptop, iPad, smartphone, iPhone, Android tablet, or Kindle Fire.  For best results, use a device that is no more than five years old.

(2)   The Zoom application/program **must already be installed onto the device prior to the start of the class.**   (If you are not sure how to get Zoom onto your device, click here for some video tutorials.  If you are still unsure after the video tutorials, please contact the Museum, the instructor can make arrangements to help class participants install Zoom on their devices prior to the class for an additional fee.)

(3)   A telephone to call into the conference call that is separate from the device being used to access Zoom.

In this class participants will learn how to join a Zoom meeting from either an invitation web-link or by using the Meeting ID and Password.  Once in the meeting, participants will learn how to change from Gallery View to Speaker View and back again.  Participants will learn how to mute and unmute their microphone as well as to turn on and off their camera.  Additional skills will be included as time allows.  These basic skills will enable participants to become active users of the Zoom platform for social engagement.
