Richard Ruelas is an Arizona native and a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. After graduation, he worked briefly for the Associated Press before moving to the afternoon newspaper, the Phoenix Gazette. He joined the Arizona Republic after those two staffs merged. He has covered all manner of stories — politics, crime, features, sports. He has previously served as a moderator for debates put on by the Republic and by the Clean Elections Commission. For the last decade, he has also carved out a mini-beat of covering the Arizona wine industry. Ruelas is the co-author of “Ho Ho, Ha Ha, Hee Hee, Ha Ha The Wallace and Ladmo Show: 35 Years of Laughter” and the author of “Thanks for Tuning In,” the biography of Bill “Wallace” Thompson.
